Dr. D’Andrea Mattia

Dr. Mattia D’Andrea obtained his Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the “La Sapienza” University of Rome, graduating with a mark of 110/110 cum laude (highest honors).
He continued his academic and clinical training at the School of Specialization in Ophthalmology and Ocular Surgery at the Department of Sensory Organs of the “La Sapienza” University of Rome, where he graduated with a mark of 70/70 cum laude. His experimental thesis focused on inflammatory biomarkers detectable at the ocular level in patients with essential blepharospasm.
During his specialization, he gained clinical and research experience at the Clinical and Research Center for Neuro-Ophthalmology and Rare Genetic Diseases at the IRCCS Fondazione G.B. Bietti. There, he focused on neuro-ophthalmology and inherited retinal dystrophies, participating in international clinical trials and contributing to several scientific publications.
He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Innovative Biotechnologies in Sensory Organ Pathologies (XL cycle) at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome, working on a project concerning the application of Artificial Intelligence in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma (GLASS: Glaucoma Language Analysis for Screening and Surveillance).
Dr. D’Andrea has active national and international scientific collaborations, with contributions to peer-reviewed journals and specialist congresses. His clinical trial experience includes the fields of rare ocular diseases, cornea, neuro-ophthalmological pathologies, and retinal dystrophies.
