Activities of the Grant Office – Fondazione Bietti

The Grant Office is the unit responsible for identifying funding opportunities to support scientific research. This involves scouting calls for proposals launched by public and private institutions. Once a suitable call is identified, the Grant Office supports researchers throughout the application process.

The research focus of the IRCCS Fondazione G.B. Bietti is Ophthalmology — a field for which specific, dedicated funding calls are relatively rare. Therefore, the Grant Office must have an in-depth understanding of the research areas of clinicians and scientists in order to identify calls from other disciplines that may also accommodate ophthalmology-related projects.

In addition, the Grant Office monitors the progress of ongoing projects, ensures compliance with deadlines, and manages reporting activities — both financial and scientific — in collaboration with the Administrative Directorate.

Reporting to the Ministry of Health

Another key responsibility of the Fondazione Bietti’s Grant Office is the preparation and submission of research activity reports to the Italian Ministry of Health. Reporting covers the following areas:

  • Scientific Output: scientific articles published during the reference year in peer-reviewed journals with a recognized impact factor.
  • Networking Capacity: the ability to collaborate with other research institutes in conducting clinical studies.
  • Ability to Attract Funding: successful acquisition of competitive research grants.
  • Clinical Activity.
  • Technology Transfer.
