COMPLEX OPERATING UNIT

The clinical and surgical activity of the Bietti Foundation revolves around the patient’s journey.

The Complex Operating Unit of Ophthalmology, directed by Dr. Tommaso Rossi, therefore embraces the entire spectrum of personal care, coordinating the outpatient, clinical and surgical activities of the individual Simple Operating Units at the British Hospital.

Each Simple Operating Unit, following the principle of super-specialization, focuses on a particular area of ophthalmology, both from the surgical and outpatient point of view.

Surgical activity includes vitreo-retinal surgery, retinal detachment, corneal transplantation, glaucoma-related interventions, cataract surgery and corneal cross-linking.

The outpatient activity is also divided into several Specialist Outpatient Clinics, each part of one of the Simple Operating Units listed below:

Finally, the specialist outpatient clinics are accompanied by a general clinic and the pediatric and ophthalmoplasty clinics.

Usually, the specialist outpatient clinics are accessed after a first visit, carried out at a trusted ophthalmologist or the same general outpatient clinic of the IRCCS Bietti Foundation.

The starting point is our General Eye Clinic, open to all people who wish to book a visit. It represents, in fact, the first approach to undertake a specific and specialized path.

After the first visit, therefore, based on the results, the patient is quickly directed to the other specialist clinics of the Foundation.

In addition to the surgeries of each Simple Operating Unit and general outpatient clinics, the following clinics are also active:

  • Pediatric ophthalmology outpatient clinic
  • Ophthalmoplasty outpatient clinic
  • Eye oncology outpatient clinic
